NOTICE TO THE RESIDENTS AND TAXPAYERS OF DISTRICT TOWNSHIP, BERKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Notice is given that the Board of Supervisors of District Township, Berks County, PA, will hold a public hearing, followed by a special meeting of the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the District Township Building located at 202 Weil Road, Boyertown, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The purpose of the public hearing is to inform the public and receive public testimony concerning an Ordinance entitled: “District Township Zoning Ordinance of 2018.” At the conclusion of the public hearing, the Board will immediately convene the special meeting and intends to take action and adopt this same Ordinance. The full text of the Ordinance and Zoning Map may be examined without charge, or copies may be obtained for a charge not greater than the cost thereof, at the District Township Municipal Building during office hours of Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM or by appointment with the Township Secretary, (610) 845-7595. SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 2018-01 The complete text of the Ordinance is available at the Township and Berks County Law Library. 2018 MEETING SCHEDULE NOTICE:The District Township Board of Supervisors Business Meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month for the year 2018. The District Township Planning Commission Business Meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month for the year 2018. The District Township Environmental Advisory Committee will hold their business meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month for the year 2018 (unless that Monday is a holiday, then the meeting will be the following Monday). The District Township Recreation Committee will hold their quarterly meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of March, June, September, and December for the year 2018. All meetings will be held at the District Township Municipal Building, 202 Weil Road, Boyertown, PA 19512. 610-845-7595.

NOTICE: The District Township Board of Supervisors will hold their Reorganization Meeting for 2018 on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 7 p.m. to reorganize and address any other business that may come before the Board. The District Township Auditors will hold their annual meeting for 2018 on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 7 p.m. The District Township Planning Commission will hold their January business meeting on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 7 p.m. The District Township EAC will hold their January meeting on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. All meetings will be held at the Municipal Building, 202 Weil Road, Boyertown, PA 19512. 610-845-7595.

Announcement: Purchase of Additional Park Land

The new 17-acre land tract is situated along Landis Store Road and was purchased for $145,000 from the Fischer family on July 31, 2012. The funds came in part from a $67,500 grant obtained from DCNR, with the remaining funds coming from the Township and a gift from the Fischer family. The new tract will be named "The Margareta Fischer Park."

District Township has increased the park's open space to nearly 75 continuous acres, which will remain a natural area for hiking, bird-watching, environmental research, and other outdoor activities for Township residents.
